Dr. Rachel Mae Dailey Hargrove

Dr. Rachel Mae Dailey Hargrove, 92, of Richmond, VA entered eternal rest on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at her residence. Dr. Hargrove was born in Chase City, VA on March 21, 1928 to the late Charlie and Nanny Redd Dailey. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Chase City, VA. Dr. Hargrove received her early education at the historic Thyne Institute in Chase City, later to further her education at Knoxville University and Rutgers University receiving her BA, MA and PHD. Dr. Hargrove was a retired college professor who enjoyed reading, gardening, and crossword puzzles. In addition to her parents, Dr. Hargrove was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Hargrove. She leaves to cherish her loving memory a stepson, Kevin Hargrove of New York, NY; one grandchild; three sisters, Shirley D. Hardy (Curtis) and Carolyn D. Skinner all of Richmond, VA and Josephine D. Reed of New Jersey; sister-in-law, Mary Monzon of Lancaster, PA; devoted niece Sophia Johnson of Richmond, VA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. A private graveside service was held Monday, March 8, 2021. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
