Dorothy Mille Long Davis

Ms. Dorothy Millie Long Davis, 78 of Chase City VA, entered eternal rest Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the Chippenham Johnston-Willis Medical Center, Richmond, VA. Mrs. Davis was born in Chase City, VA, May 26, 1939, to the late Howard and Christine Ghee-Long. She received her early education in the Mecklenburg County Public Schools, and was a graduate of West End High School. She received her early Christian education at the Concord Baptist Church under the Rev. J. C. Byrd and was baptized by the Rev. L. E. Coleman. She journeyed on to New York to make a better life and retired as a Child Welfare Case Worker from the New York City Dept. of Social Service. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Gwendolyn Delores Long. Cherishing her memories are her mother, Christine Ghee-Long of Chase City, VA; two sisters, Mattie Jean Long-Boney (Harry), Sebring, Fl and Rosa M. Carruthers of Richmond, VA; two brothers, Howard Long (Theresa) of Boydton, VA and Will Roger Long (Rose) of Park Forest, Ill, eight nephews, two nieces, and vast number of loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. Raleigh M. Bagley III delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday from 10:00 AM until 7:00 PM. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA.
