Dorothy Mae Powell Taylor

Mrs. Dorothy Mae Powell Taylor, 74, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at MCV Hospital, Richmond, VA. Mrs. Taylor was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on March 22, 1942 to the late Powhatan and Lena Hayes Powell. She received her education in the Mecklenburg County School system. At an early age, she attended Lone Oak Baptist Church and later joined the membership of Silone Baptist Church, Chase City. Mrs. Taylor was formerly employed by Hampco Apparel, Inc. for many years until its closure. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her husband of 22 years, Fred Christopher Taylor, one brother and three sisters. Cherishing her memories are her children, Anthony (Linda) of Boydton, VA, and Frederick and Kristie both of Chase City, VA; eight grandchildren, Antonio, LaShonda, Katia, Kezeria, Nicole, Kadeem, Nia and Jason; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Taylor and Rosa Smith; devoted friends, Agatha Salley, Rocksand Stewart and Emma Long and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral Services for Mrs. Dorothy Mae Powell Taylor will be conducted 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Silone Baptist Church, Chase City with Rev. Melvin J. Palmer, officiating. Burial will follow in Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Chase City. Public Viewing will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M., with the family receiving friend from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
