Mr. Donald Edward Smith, 62, of Clarksville, VA entered eternal rest on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital, Richmond, VA. Mr. Smith was born in South Hill, VA on November 29, 1954 to Jenetta Rose Watson Smith and the late Walter Edward Smith. At an early age, he joined Cedar Grove Baptist Church #1, Clarksville, VA. He was a graduate of Bluestone Senior High School, Skipwith, VA and a former employee of Virginia Carolina Paving & Grading, South Boston, VA. His favorite pastimes were fishing, gardening, chatting and playing horseshoes. In addition to his father, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by one stepson, Clyde Hilliard. Cherishing his memories are his wife, Odene Hilliard Smith of Clarksville, VA; one son, Russell Walker of Greensboro, NC; one stepson, James Hilliard of Chase City, VA ; two stepdaughters, Tywanda Jefferson (Charlie) of Lynchburg, VA and Mable Cheatwood of Clarksville, VA; his mother, Jenetta Rose Watson Smith of Skipwith, VA; one brother, Troy Smith (Johanna) of Clarksville, VA; four sisters, Brenda Reed (Gary) of Clarksville, VA, Phyllis Fields (Wayne) of Bullock, NC and Carrie Stith (Ben) and Maggie Hayes (Harvey) both of Red Oak, VA; four sisters-in-law, six brothers-in-law and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Donald Edward Smith will be conducted 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the chapel of C. H. Harris Funeral Home, Buffalo Junction, VA with Rev. Charlie Jefferson, officiating. Burial will follow in New Light Baptist Church Cemetery, Skipwith, VA. Public viewing will be held on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by C. H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
