Dewey Smith

Mr. Dewey Smith, 86, of East Orange, NJ entered eternal rest Thursday, September 30, 2021, in East Orange, NJ. Mr. Smith was born in the Brassfield Community of Granville County, NC April 11, 1935, to the late James and Sadie Smith. He moved to Mecklenburg County, VA where he attended the public schools and met his wife, and joined St. Luke Baptist Church in Skipwith, VA. After relocating to New Jersey, he worked for Abelow Enterprises as a plumber. He joined Positive Proof Ministry of East Orange, NJ. In his spare time he enjoyed country music and westerns. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, Magalene Marrow Smith and two grandchildren. Cherishing his memories are three children, Dewey Smith, Jr. (Noel) of Texas, Glendora Briddell of Savannah, GA, and Rhonda Moore (Roger) of Gouldsboro, PA; numerous grandchildren; a sister, Reedis Smith; two sisters-n-law, Rev. Ruth Marrow and Martha Smith, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Graveside services for Mr. Dewey Smith will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Friday, October 8, 2021 at St. Luke Baptist Church Cemetery, Skipwith, VA with Rev. Chester Terry officiating. Public viewing will be held on Thursday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. A mask is required for all viewings and services. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
