Mr. Dennis Donell Small, 79, of Oxford, NC entered eternal rest Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Maria Parham Medical Center, Henderson, NC. Mr. Small was born in Townsville, NC August 12, 1935 to the late Ralph and Harriet Hargrove Small. He attended the schools of Vance County, NC, relocating to New York after graduation. In 1979, he married Doris M. Harvey. Mr. Small was formerly employed as a filing clerk for New York Methodist's Hospital, Brooklyn, NY for 22 years. He also worked for the NYPD for over 18 years. Upon returning to Oxford in 1995, he worked as a Security Supervisor at Vance County Community College for over 17 years. Mr. Small was a member of Hardie Grove Baptist Church, Oxford, NC, where he served as a Trustee and Treasurer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Small; two sons, Wayne “Gary” Small and Greg Small, Sr.; one brother, Ralph Small and two sisters, Lillian Terry and Myrtle V. Allen. Cherishing his memoires are his wife of 35 years, Doris Mae Harvey Small of Oxford, NC; three sons, Derrick Small of Louisburg, NC, Reginald D. Small of New York and George E. Harvey of Oxford, NC; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Frances Terry of New Jersey and Helen Reid of North Carolina; four sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral Services for Mr. Dennis Donell Small will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Hardie Grove Baptist Church, Oxford, NC with Rev. Cashual R. Lynch, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the church. Arrangements are by C. H.
