Deaconess Mary Endia Salley, 91, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Friday, May 29, 2020 at VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill, VA. Deaconess Salley was born in Mecklenburg County, VA December 31, 1928 to the late Johnny and Mary Etta Wilson Thompson. She was a graduate of South Hill Training School, and was a member of Concord Baptist Church in Chase City, VA where she served as a Deaconess, and a former member of the choir. In addition to her parents, Deaconess Salley was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie Leroy Salley; daughters, Dr. Linda D. Salley and Dean O. Salley; sisters, Ethel Parrish and Helen King; and brothers, Harry, John, Edmond and Charlie Thompson. She leaves to cherish her precious memories two daughters, Christine Woodson (Melvin) of Chase City, VA and Celestine Brooks (Leroy) of Red Oak, VA; grandchildren, Tonya Salley-Goodwin of Harrisonburg, VA, Siobhan Richardson (Tarron) of New Castle, DE, Michelle Yancey of Charles City, VA and Juwan Brooks (Jasmine) of Clarksville, VA; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Peyton, Aiden, Jayce and Christin; sisters-in-law, Carrie Lee Thompson and Martha Salley; brothers-in-law, Thurman Salley (Irene) and Amos Salley (Laura), and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. A graveside service will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Concord Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Dennis King, officiating. Viewing will be private. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
