Deacon William Henry Barnes

Deacon William Henry Barnes, 86, of Chase City, VA departed this life on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 in Somerset, NJ.

Deacon Barnes was born on December 3, 1938 to the late William Edward Barnes and Lugene Osborne Barnes. He attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA and relocated North in 1961. Deacon Barnes was a member of Mount Zion FBH Church in Elizabeth, NJ; while there he served in many capacities of the church – usher, choir, missionary and later became a Deacon. He served faithfully as Deacon at Smyrna Fired Baptized Holiness Church, 2nd Timothy, Palmer’s Memorial and finally Faith Temple Holiness Church. In his spare time, he loved baseball, hunting, fishing, bowling and farming.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pastor Earline Barnes; a special son, Edward Barnes; five sisters, two brothers, three grandchildren, and one son-in-law.

He leaves to cherish precious memories his loving children, Evangelist Caroline Perry (Isaac), Minister Jerome Bailey (Deaconess Sandra), Yvonne Barr (Lonnie), Bishop William Michael Barnes (Apostle Roxanne), Donald Barnes (Javetta), Jennifer Robinson (Willie), Pastor Samantha Ashley (Deacon Archie) and Tabitha Sands (Charles); a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Funnye; Godchildren, Peggy Griffin and Minister Annette McRae, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Deacon William Henry Barnes will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Rocky Mount Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA with Apostle Roxanne L. Barnes delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will begin on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M.
