Deacon Albert A. Harper

Deacon Albert A. Harper, 86, of Hurdle Mills, NC and formerly of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Person Memorial Hospital, Roxboro, NC Mr. Harper was born in Chase City, VA on February 14, 1929 to the late Dora Ell Harper Green. He was a graduate of the Mecklenburg County Training School and a member of Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, VA where he was Sunday School Superintendent, a Deacon for over 56 years and sang in the Male Chorus. Mr. Harper was a school bus mechanic for Mecklenburg County Schools with over 30 years of service. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Oliver Harper and one daughter, Deborah P. Crowder. Cherishing his memories are his son, Thomas B. Harper (Tara) of Hurdle Mills, NC; five grandchildren, Wartena G. Crowder, Trevor G. Harper, Delron Crowder, Taj E. Harper and Twyla W. Harper; one brother, John Greene (Princess) of Rosedale, NY; four brothers-in-law and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Deacon Albert A. Harper will be conducted 12:00 Noon Monday, October 26, 2015 at Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. Raleigh M. Bagley, III officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Monday from 11:00 A.M. until service time.
