David Burton, Sr.

Mr. David Burton, Sr., 89, died on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill, VA.

Mr. Burton was born July 11, 1933 in Charlotte County, VA to the late Robert and Nancy Burton. He received his education in the Charlotte County Schools. Mr. Burton moved to New Jersey at the age of 19 where he started his career as a longshoreman for the Port Authority of New Jersey. He retired after 38 years of dedicated service. Later in 1997, he relocated back to Virginia to his family farm in Drakes Branch, VA. He was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness, and attended meetings faithfully until his illness. He was a faithful and committed servant of Jehovah. Mr. Burton loved working on the farm and Christian ministry.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Burton was proceeded in death by one son, David Burton, Jr.; one daughter, Rhoda Ann Burton; brothers, Floyd Burton, Samuel Burton, Harry Burton, James Burton and Nathiel Burton and sisters, Susie Cuffee, Ruth Freeland, Wiletta Hamilton, Bessie Oliver and Alice Burton.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Charlotte Ann Burton; daughter, Latasha Burton (Markeit); sons, Ronald Burton (Alice), Timothy Burton (Alfreda), Andre Burton (Tina), Jermaine Burton, Raejon Burton, and Shawn Burton (Ebony); two step-daughters, Tracey Blocker and Cheri Clark; sisters, Maggie Tate and Roberta Mitchell; brothers, Albert Burton and Daniel Burton, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and a vast number of loving family and friends.

A memorial service for Mr. David Burton, Sr. will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Meherrin, VA with John Hogans delivering the message.
