Corine O. Land

Mrs. Corine Oliver Land, 82, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Saturday, December 15, 2007 at Community Memorial Healthcenter, South Hill, VA.Mrs. Land was born in Mecklenburg County, VA September 1, 1925 to the late James and Jennie Boyd Oliver. She attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA and was a member of Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, VA. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing and gardening.Mrs. Land was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Daniel Land, five brothers, Lathan, Jim, Robert, Walter, and Claude; three sisters,, Gilla Mae Burton, Mildred Oliver and Lucille Hicks.Cherishing her memory are three daughters, Mary Anne Oliver of Chase City, VA, Vera Jones (David) of Richmond, VA and Carolyn Chavis (Henry) of Richmond, VA; one son, Willie Land (Vernell) of New Jersey; 13 grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren, two sisters, Ruth Hatcher of PA and Glinis Barnette of Chase City, VA; one sister-in-law, Nola Oliver of Arlington, VA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.Funeral services for Mrs. Corine Oliver Land will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007 at Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. E. Douglas Reams, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Dec. 19, from 7 until 8 P.M. at Giles-Harris Funeral Home.Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service 1304 North Main Street, Chase City, VA.
