Claudia Mae Long

Mrs. Claudia Mae Long, 84, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Sunday, June 13, 2010 at Community Memorial Healthcenter, South Hill, VA. Mrs. Long was born in Shelby, NC January 30, 1926 to the late Claude and Mary France Porter Thomas. She attended the Cleveland County, NC schools, was a member of Greater Union Baptist Church, Chase City, VA and was a former employee of Hampco Apparel. Mrs. Long was preceded in death by her husband, Mayo Long; one son, Robert L. Long; a great granddaughter, Ceonna Long;  four brothers, John Thomas, George Thomas, Charles Thomas and Joseph Thomas; two sisters, Leola Hayes and Christine Craddock. Cherishing her memories are four daughters, Caroline Long of Bronx, NY, Margaret Long-Wims, Ree Long and Karen Long all of Chase City, VA; two sons, Samuel Long (Erinetta) of White Plains, NY and Calvin Long (Emma) of Chase City, VA; five grandchildren, Cleopha, Calvin, Tiffany, Travis and Ashley; one great grandchild, Jacinda; one brother, Ulysses Thomas of Baltimore, MD; five sisters-in-law, Christine Long, Fannie Thomas, Angie Thomas, Antionetta Thomas and Annie Thomas and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services form Mrs. Claudia Mae Long will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA with Rev. Linda Goode, officiating. Burial will follow in Concord Baptist Church Cemetery. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
