Clarence Roosevelt Hayes

Mr. Clarence Roosevelt Hayes, 83, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Sentara Meadowview Terrace, Clarksville, VA. Mr. Hayes was born in Chase City, VA March 5, 1936 to the late Clyde and Ruth E. Nelson Hayes. He attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, Virginia and was a member of Berean Baptist Church, Chase City, VA. In his spare time he enjoyed playing cards, watching sports, and western movies. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hayes was preceded in death by wife, Catherine Hayes along with 13 siblings. He leaves not to mourn but to cherish precious memories two sons, Shaheed Hayes (Crystal) of Newark, NJ and Randy Hayes (Serena) of Irvington, NJ; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Clarence R. Hayes will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 16, 2019 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Marvin Harris delivering the eulogy. Interment will be private. Public viewing will begin 10:00 AM Friday morning. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
