Clarence Ray Pettaway

Mr. Clarence Ray Pettaway, 69, of Nelson, VA entered eternal rest on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at his residence.

Mr. Pettaway was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on March 3, 1953 to the late Freeman and Daisy Small Pettaway. He attended the public schools of Mecklenburg County, VA, and at an early age joined Island Hill United Church of Christ in Clarksville, VA. Mr. Pettaway was formerly employed by Burlington Industries. In his spare time, he enjoyed listening to music and watching baseball. Mr. Pettaway was an avid horseshoe pitcher, and was proud of his awards and trophies.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Pettaway was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Hargrove and Anna Pettaway, and a brother, William “Dick” Pettaway.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife, Mae Ruth Pettaway of Nelson, VA; two daughters, Naketti Marrow (Ronnie) of Nelson, VA and Tarasha Pettaway (Derrick) of Buffalo Junction, VA; three grandchildren; one brother, John Pettaway (Frances) of Nelson, VA, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Clarence Ray Pettaway will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the chapel of C. H. Harris Funeral Home, Buffalo Junction, VA with Rev. John Jefferson, officiating. Burial will follow in Island Hill Christian Church Cemetery, Clarksville, VA. Public viewing will be held on Friday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
