Mr. Clarence Edward Puryear, 68, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill, VA. Mr. Puryear was born in Skipwith, VA on March 30, 1954 to the late Dabney and Annie Mae Garner Puryear. He was educated in the public schools of Mecklenburg County, and was a member of St. Luke Baptist Church in Skipwith, VA. Mr. Puryear was a former employee of County Manor Farm. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and playing cards. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Ann Boyd Puryear; sister, Elnora Smithson, and one brother, Ernest Puryear. He leaves to cherish his loving memory a daughter, Lucy N. Puryear (Edward); two sons, Gerald Puryear and Tarence Puryear, all of Chase City, VA; one grandson; Ja’Marion Wilson; two adopted daughters, Shekeeter Stanback and Porchea Breedlove (Robert); three sisters, Lelia Kelly of Richmond, VA, Lucy Williams of Boston, MA and Geraldine Henderson of Alexandria, VA; one brother, Major Puryear (Betty) of Newport News, VA; special nieces, Lakesia Darden and Analeshia Boyd, three brothers-in-law, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Clarence Edward Puryear will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at St. Luke Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA with Rev. Tyrese Skipwith delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Tuesday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. A mask is required for all viewings and services. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
