Mr. Clarence Edward Lawrence, 59, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Friday, Nov. 16, 2007 at the Woodview, South Boston, VA.Mr. Lawrence was born in Mecklenburg County, VA May 15, 1948 to Alex J. Tucker and Annie L. McClure. He received his education in the Mecklenburg County School System. At an early age he became a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA.He moved to Bridgeport, CT in 1966, where he joined Messiah Baptist Church. He was employed at Carpenter Steel Company as a millman for 15 years. He then worked for the Bridgeport Post for 5 years and Imperial Printing for 7 years, returning to Chase City, VA in 2003.Cherishing his memories are his children, Tracey Lawrence of Irvington, NJ, Damon Van Duzen of Minneapolis, MN, Laverne Atkinson of Skipwith, VA, Matthew D. Holmes (Sandi) of Irvington, NJ, Derrick Holmes of Scarsdale, NY; 10 grandchildren, his mother Mrs. Annie M. Barnes of Skipwith, VA; his father Alex J. Tucker (Estell) of Chase City, VA, one sister Laverne Pulliam, Chase City, VA; one aunt Creola Tucker of Chase City, VA four God-daughters and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.Funeral services for Mr. Clarence Edward Lawrence will be conducted 12:00 Noon Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at Rocky Mount Baptist Church. Skipwith, VA with Rev. Willie L Carter, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon.Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1304 North Main Street, Chase City, VA.
