Clara Belle Hayes

Ms. Clara Belle Hayes, 82, of Clarksville, VA departed this earthly life Sunday, January 28, 2018 at her residence. Ms. Hayes was born in Mecklenburg County, VA June 19, 1935 to the late Herbert L. and Jennie Hayes Parrish. She attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA and was a retiree of Amtrak. In addition to her parents, Ms. Hayes was preceded in death by four brothers, James, George, Joe and Willie Parrish; five sisters, Mamie P. Smith, Louise Simmons, Odessa Leggins, Corine Elena Parrish and Alma Shirley Taylor. Cherishing her memories are her children, Thelma Fuller (William), Teresa Freeman (John), Dorice Hayes and Annie Fuller (Ralph) all of Mount Vernon, NY, Kenneth Hayes (Mary) of Pennsylvania, Calvin Hayes of South Hill, VA and Minister Alma L. Mayo of Baskerville, VA; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; one sister, Gladys Parrish of South Hill, VA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, February 2, 2018 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Andy Hargrove, officiating. Burial will follow in Williams Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Thursday from 10:00 AM until 7:00 PM. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
