Claborne Lee Staten

Mr. Claborne Lee Staten, 82, of Drakes Branch, VA entered eternal rest on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 in Keysville, VA.

Mr. Staten was born in Charlotte County, VA on October 8, 1940 to the late Isaac and Pattie Gregory Staten. He attended Charlotte County Public Schools, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Wylliesburg, VA. Mr. Staten was formerly employed as a custodian for Charlotte County Public Schools. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and tinkering with things.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Geneva Staten and Joe Staten.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife, Rachel S. Staten of Drakes Branch, VA; two sons, Claborne L. Staten, III (Joy) of London, UK and Roderick A. Staten of Fort Mitchell, VA; one daughter, Sharon S. Nelms (Michael) of Northern Virginia; four grandchildren; one brother, Isaac Staten of Bushkill, PA; two sisters, Mary Francis of Saxe, VA and Pearl Brown of Chase City, VA; one sister-in-law, one brother-in-law, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral Services for Mr. Claborne L. Staten will be conducted 12:00 Noon Thursday, October 12, 2023 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA. Burial will follow in First Baptist Church Cemetery, Drakes Branch, VA. Public viewing will be held on Wednesday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
