Charlotte (Carletha) B. Smith

Mrs. Charlotte B. Smith, better known as Carletha, 70, of Annandale, VA and formerly of Clarksville, VA entered eternal rest Saturday, October 29, 2011 in Annandale, VA. Mrs. Smith was born in Mecklenburg County, VA December 5, 1940 to the late Leland and Mamie Hayes. She attended Mecklenburg County Schools and spent her young adult years in New Jersey employed at a well-known hotel chain.  Mrs. Smith was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church, Clarksville, VA.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Floyd Smith, two daughters, Amanda Nadine Downey and Joyce Ann Moffitt, one grandson, Lester Boswell, and one brother, Cleveland Hayes.  Cherishing her memories are one son, Robert Lee Carter, Jr.,(Leslie) of Springfield, Virginia, one daughter, Christine Carter Glymph (Sam) of Canton, Georgia, 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren,  three sisters , Mary Byrd (Harry), Corrine Terry and Annie Mozelle Terry (Jesse), all of Clarksville, Virginia, and one sister-in-law, Corine Hayes and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Charlotte B. Smith will be conducted 12:00 Noon Saturday, November 5, 2011 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Mack Talley, officiating. Burial will follow in New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Clarksville, VA. Viewing for Mrs. Smith will begin 10:00 A.M. Saturday morning at Giles-Harris Funeral Home. Arrangements are by C.H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clarksville, VA.
