Charlie P. Coleman

Mr. Charlie P. Coleman, 77, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Friday, June 25, 2021 at VCU Medical Center, Richmond, VA. Mr. Coleman was born in Boydton, VA on December 10, 1943 to the late Alphonzo and Mamie Coleman. He attended the public schools of Mecklenburg County, VA. Mr. Coleman worked in construction and as a truck driver; he was a heavy equipment operator, constructing bridges, tunnels, railroads and buildings. He was formerly employed by Joseph B. Zamelsky Company and Seaboard Supply Company with over 37 years of service. He retired in 2005, and was a proud member of Heavy Laborers Local Union 472 and 734. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, playing pool, bingo, coin collecting and fishing. In addition to his parents, Mr. Coleman was preceded in death by his son, Terrance Terrell Coleman; brother, Lee Roy Coleman and sister, Mary Ann Coleman White Hatcher. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Lenore Gordon Coleman of Chase City, VA; two sons, Charlie P. Coleman, Jr. of Spring Hill, FL and Kyle D. Coleman of Newark, NJ; two daughters, Twila S. Rainey of Chase City, VA and Tanya Seward of Newark, NJ; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alphonzo Coleman (Kim) of Chase City, VA and Allen Coleman of Boydton, VA; one sister, Priscilla Wilkins (Clarence) of Boydton, VA, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Charlie P. Coleman will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 17, 2021 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Elder Kenyatta Evans officiating. Burial will follow in the Coleman Family Cemetery, Boydton, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday, July 16th from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
