Mr. Charlie Haskins, Jr., 80, affectionately known as “June or Junie”, entered eternal rest on Monday, January 24, 2022 at his residence. Mr. Haskins was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on November 30, 1941 to the late Charlie, Sr. and Alnora Smith Haskins. He attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA, and at an early age joined Bluestone Baptist Church in Skipwith, VA where he served as a Trustee for many years. Charlie entered the workforce at an early age, working on the family farm for many years. He was previously employed by Craddock and Terry Shoe Factory and Cardinal Homes before joining the workforce at Burlington Industries in Clarksville, VA. He retired on March 3, 1996 with 20 years of dedicated service. His favorite pastimes included cutting grass on the farm, followed by his many hours of bush hogging. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Parrish. He leaves to cherish his loving, gentle and caring spirit his devoted wife of 58 years, Helen Smith Haskins of the home; his loving children, Charlie Haskins, III (Mitzi) of Lynchburg, VA and Sonya Haskins (Ricky) of Clarksville, VA; granddaughter, Nykol Kheteary Haskins of Appomattox, VA; great-granddaughter, Kennedy Nykol Harriston of Appomattox, VA; his sisters, Mary Urquhart of Chesapeake, VA, Alma Nelson (Daniel McDonald) of Fredericksburg, VA and Margaret Mosley (Willie) of Red Oak, VA; seven sisters-in-law, Annie Tucker, Eva Gayles, Ella Jean Puryear, Ruby Williams, Deborah Jones (Lloyd), Irene Tucker and Carolyn Burwell (Fredrick); numerous nieces and nephews to include a devoted nephew, James Parrish (Dionne); devoted friends, James Boyd and Kenny Haskins, numerous loving cousins and caring friends. Graveside services for Mr. Charlie Haskins, Jr. will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 28, 2022 at Bluestone Baptist Church Cemetery, Skipwith, VA with Rev. Lawrence T. Wilkerson Sr. officiating. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Thursday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Mask are required to be worn for all viewings and services. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
