Charles Edward Townes, Jr.

Mr. Charles Edward Townes, Jr., 74, of Clarksville, VA entered eternal rest Monday, May 13, 2019 at Chase City Health and Rehab. Mr. Townes was born in Jeffress, VA February 28, 1945 to the late Charles Edward Townes, Sr. and Ardelle Dodson Townes. He attended West End High School, Skipwith, VA, and at an early age joined New Liberty Baptist Church. He was a former delivery driver for 7Up in Hackensack, NJ. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. Left to cherish his precious memories are three brothers, Raymond Townes of Paterson, NJ, Willie Townes of Los Angeles, CA, and Sandy Townes of Chase City, VA; four sisters, Annie Townes Hansil (Julian) and Linda Townes of Englewood, NJ, Rebecca Townes Dove (Roosevelt) of Farmville, VA and Susan Rogers of Hackensack, NJ; one aunt, Josephine Townes Benjamin of Morristown, NJ; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the chapel of C.H. Harris Funeral Home with Elder Charles D. Allen delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Nelson Family Cemetery, Clarksville, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will begin on Friday from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM. Arrangements are by C.H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
