Charles Edward Carter, Sr.

Mr. Charles Edward Carter, Sr., 87, of Boydton, VA entered eternal rest Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at his residence. Mr. Carter was born in Boydton, VA April 25, 1930 to the late Roy and Mabel Bryson Carter. He attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA and was a graduate of Saint Paul’s College Lawrenceville, VA. Mr. Carter was a retired self- employed masonry contractor and a veteran of the US Army. In addition to his parents, Mr. Carter was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Carter, Jr. and Gilbert Carter, and a sister, Ardelle Grimes. He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Eleanor Travis Carter of Boydton, VA; three children Charles Carter, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Barry Carter (Metztli) of Kenbridge, VA and Cheryl Carter-Ellis of Willow Spring, NC; 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mozelle Woods of Chase City, VA, Helen Evans (Pete) of Boydton, VA and Mildred Wood (Lloyd) of Jersey City, NJ, three sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
