Cecil Eugene Puryear

Mr. Cecil Eugene Puryear, 81, of Nelson, VA entered eternal rest Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA. Mr. Puryear was born in Mecklenburg County, VA March 6, 1936 to the late Orlander and Mary Hall Finley Puryear. He attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA and was a member of Wharton Memorial Baptist Church, Nelson, VA. Mr. Puryear was a former employee of Lawson and Sutton , Greensboro, NC, and his favorite past time was playing his guitar. In addition to his parents, Mr. Puryear was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Mae Puryear; daughter, Delores Puryear, and son, Clifford Chris Perry. He leaves to cherish his memories seven children, Cecil Puryear, James Puryear, Dianne Stukes (Wardell), Shirley Coleman (Herbert), Steven Puryear (Vickey), Joe Puryear all of Buffalo Junction, VA and Patricia Sanford of Durham, NC; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Susan Harris (Ralph) of Oxford, NC; three brothers, Louis Puryear and Freddie Puryear (Mary) all of Buffalo Junction, VA and Tom Puryear of East Orange, NJ, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. A memorial service for Mr. Cecil Eugene Puryear will be conducted 11:00 AM Monday, March 5, 2018 at the chapel of C. H. Harris Funeral Home, Buffalo Junction, VA with Jim White officiating. Arrangements are by C. H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
