Carrie Oliver Bacon

Mrs. Carrie Oliver Bacon, 77, of Victoria, VA entered eternal rest Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009 at Southside Community Hospital, Farmville, VA.   Mrs. Bacon was born in Mecklenburg County, VA March 12, 1932 to the late George W. and Rebecca Jones Oliver. She was a member of Mount Mitchell Baptist Church, Drake Branch, VA and a retired farmer.   Mrs. Bacon was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Hodges Bacon, one son, Ernest Oliver and one sister, Elizabeth Coleman.   Cherishing her memories are four children, Willie Oliver (Barbara) of Victoria, VA, Nancy Roberts, Lacrosse, VA, Hodges E. Bacon (Terri) of Allentown, NJ, Lester C. Bacon (Janie) of Harriman, NY; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Florence Roberts of Drakes Branch, VA, Lucy Mae Bayne of Keysville, VA and Marie Hutchinson of Irvington, NJ; two brothers, James Oliver (Lois) and George Oliver (Juanita) all of Newark, NJ and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.   Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie Oliver Bacon will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 5, 2009 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Fran S. Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Mitchell Baptist Church Cemetery, Drakes Branch, VA.  Mrs. Bacon may be viewed Saturday only beginning at 9:00 A.M. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time.   Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1304 North Main Street, Chase City, VA.
