Carrie J. Morton

Mrs. Carrie J. Morton, 72, of Buffalo Junction, VA entered eternal rest Monday, March 3, 2008 at her residence. Mrs. Morton was born in Yonkers, NY October 8, 1935 to the late James A. and Marion Magee Custis. She was educated in Yonkers, NY and was employed by New York Telephone for 30 years. She also was a former Librarian at Clarksville Public Library. Mrs. Morton was a member of Wharton Memorial Baptist Church, Nelson, VA where she was active with Trustee Board, senior choir and as a Fellowship Hostess. Mrs. Morton was preceded in death by five brothers. Cherishing her memories are her husband, Thomas Lee Morton of Buffalo Junction, VA; three children, Debra Miles (Henry Sr.) of Edenton, NC, Barbara Salotto (Mike) of Beverly MA and Thomas Morton Jr. of Bronx, NY; two grandchildren, Henry Miles Jr. and Cedric Miles both of Virginia Beach, VA; one sister, Dorothy Custis Williams of Yonkers, NY; one brother-in-law, four sisters-in-law and a vast number of aunts, uncles, other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie J. Morton will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 6, 2008 at Wharton Memorial Baptist Church, Nelson, VA with Rev. James A. Hudson, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Henry Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Saxe, VA. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 7 P.M. at C.H. Harris Funeral Home, Clarksville, VA. Arrangements are by C.H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 216 4th street, Clarksville, VA.
