Carrie Harper Carter

Mrs. Carrie Harper Carter, 93, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Monday, August 30, 2021 at her residence. Mrs. Carter was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on January 20, 1928 to the late Edmond Lee and Blanche Doggette Harper. She attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA, and was a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church in Skipwith, VA. Mrs. Carter was a retired custodian from Mecklenburg Electric Co-op and homemaker, and in her spare time enjoyed watching westerns, reading, gardening, and listening to music. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cater was preceded in death by her husband, Willie L. Carter; daughters, Patsy Lyons and Carolyn Davis; sons, Rev. Willie J. Carter, Edmond Carter and Dennis Carter; granddaughter, Gracie Lyons, and grandson, James Davis, Jr. She leaves to cherish her loving memory a son, Calvin Carter of Chase City, VA; daughter, Linda C. Tucker (Donnie) of Chase City, VA; eleven grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, two sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
