Mr. Carnell Royster, 59, of Bullock, NC entered into eternal rest Friday, May 6, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Royster was born in Granville County, NC February 24, 1952 to the late Samuel Royster and Zola Tarry Royster. He was a 1972 graduate of J.F. Webb High School, a graduate of Vance Technical Institute and received a Certificate from American Welding Society. He was employed by ABB, South Boston, VA for 37 years where he served as a Certified Welding Inspector. Carnell was a born again Christian, a dedicated member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church #2, where he served as deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and teacher, former trustee, member of Cedar Grove Male Chorus, the Gospel Choir, and the Mass Choir.  He also served as the treasurer of the Clarksville camp of the Gideons International. Carnell enjoyed life but truly dedicated his life to pleasing God. He made time for family, landscaping and wood projects, photography, marine life and horticulture and the UNC Tarheels.  Most of these activities included his wife or son or both. In addition to his father, Carnell was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Royster Smith and a brother, Andrew Royster. Cherishing his memories are his wife, Arlene Howerton Royster of Bullock, NC; one son, Jeffrey Lamar Royster of Greensboro, NC; one god-son, Isaiah Glenn Kirby; his mother, Zola Royster of Bullock, NC; three brothers, Samuel III (Emily) of Clarksville, VA, Jarald (Wilma), Brian (Sherrie) all of Bullock, NC; mother and father-in-law, William “Roy” Howerton and Marian Watkins Howerton; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Howerton Day (Lawrence);  uncle, Edgar Royster (Vivian); aunts, Lucy Hargrove, Louise Spruill, Linda Smith, Gaynell Tarry, Virginia Tarry, Gladys Thornton;  niece, Kimberly Royster; nephews Antwan Royster (Shawana), Jara Royster, Eric Smith, Brice Royster and Brim Royster; two great nephews, one great niece and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends including his Cedar Grove and White Oak Fork Church Family. Funeral services for Mr. Carnell Royster will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at Grace Baptist Church, Virgilina, VA with Rev. Cornelius Ogburn, officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Baptist Church #2 Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7 until 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by C.H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clarksville, VA.
