Ms. Carleather Elizabeth Watson, 54, of Raleigh, NC and formerly Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Friday, September 9, 2016 at UNC Medical Center, Chapel Hill, NC. Ms. Watson was born September 24, 1961 in Baltimore County, MD to William Hurt, Sr. and the late Margaret Harrington Hurt. In 1974, she relocated to Lunenburg County and attended the schools of Lunenburg County and Southside Virginia Community College. She joined Mt. Mitchell Baptist Church, Drakes Branch where she was a member of the Young Adult Choir and the Pastor’s Aid Committee. She was a retiree of Mecklenburg Correctional Center, having worked for 23 years as a Correctional Officer. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by one brother, Jeffrey L. Hurt. Cherishing her memories are one daughter, Sheronda L. Dennis of Cary, NC; one son, Charles L. Watson (Latonya) of Wake Forest, NC; eight grandchildren; her father, William Hurt, Sr.; one sister, Willette Watson (Thomas) of Chase City; one brother, William Junious Hurt (Tanya), of Chase City; god sister, Angie Oliver of Blackstone; one uncle, two aunts, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Ms. Carleather Elizabeth Watson will be conducted 2:00 P.M., Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Mt. Mitchell Baptist Church, Drakes Branch with Rev. Frankie Watson II, delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will begin Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until service time. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
