Calvin Long

Mr. Calvin Long, 69, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA. Mr. Long was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on January 30, 1951 to the late Mayo Long and Claudia Mae Thomas. He was a 1969 graduate of West End High School in Skipwith, and was previously employed by Quible, Trent Land Surveying, and Wheaton Tubing. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing cards, relaxing on the front porch, watching sports with his children, arguing with his twin sister, and watching TV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ceonna Aniya Long; father in-law, Jentis Boyd; stepfather-in-law, James Q. Beattie; brother, Robert Lee Long, and sister, Margaret Long-Wims. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Emma Boyd Long; daughter Cleopha Long; son, Calvin Emmanuel Long; granddaughter, Jacinda Aleece Long all of Chase City, VA; mother-in-law, Ola Beattie of Skipwith VA; Godson, Tevarius Brooks; Goddaughter, Aiyana Davis; brother, Samuel Long (Erinetta) of New York; sisters, his twin Carolyn Long, Margaretta Long and Karen Long all of Chase City, VA; numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. A graveside service for Mr. Calvin Long will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Concord Baptist Church Cemetery, Chase City VA with Rev. Dennis King officiating. Public viewing will be held on Tuesday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Due to Covid-19, a mask will be required for all viewings and services, and we ask that you practice social distancing. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
