Calvin Ellis Burton

Mr. Calvin E. Burton, 65, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Friday, Sept. 4, 2009 at his residence. Mr. Burton was born in Mecklenburg County Virginia July 9, 1944 to the late Calvin H. and Odie Pamplin Burton. He attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA and was a retiree of Estes Express Lines. Mr. Burton was a veteran of the U. S. Army. Cherishing his memories are his wife Mrs. Linda M. Burton of Chase City, VA; two children, Shaleter Burton (Derelle) and Nina Clark all of Chase City, VA; God-child, Alexis Mc Fail of Chase City, VA; one brother, Charles L. Burton (Mary) of Chase City, VA; mother-in-law, Roberta Mc Fail of Chase City, VA; four sisters-in-law, Juanita Jones of Chase City, VA, Priscilla Mc Fail  and Sylvia Mc Fail both of Baltimore, MD , and Martha Bacon of New Jersey; nine brothers-in-law, Edward, Sandy, Tyrone, Otis, John, Ben and Harold all of Chase City, VA, Earl Pettus of Baltimore, MD and Ernest of South Hill, VA; and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Calvin E. Burton will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009 at Concord Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. E. Douglas Reams, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 until 7 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1304 North Main St., Chase City, VA.
