Bobby Ann "Barbara" Harris

Mrs. Bobby Ann “Barbara” Harris, 72, of Saxe, VA entered eternal rest on Friday, October 11, 2019 at her residence. Mrs. Harris was born in Lunenburg County, VA on February 11, 1947 to the late Robert Watson and Mabel Worsham Gilbert. She attended Lunenburg County Public Schools and received her GED from Southside Virginia Community College in 1986. She was a faithful member of Holy Name Church of Jesus in Chase City, VA where she served as Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent of Sunday Schools, President of the Missionary Department, Head of the Kitchen Committee, and was a member of the Usher Board and Choir. Mrs. Harris was previously employed by Jonbil, Russell Stover Candies, and Charlotte County Public Schools where she worked in many capacities including Teacher’s Aide. She leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 53 years, Harvey Harris of Saxe, VA; three daughters, Tracy Ferguson (Theodore) of Keysville, VA, Sylvia Gayles of Saxe, VA, and Hope Harris-Gayles (Arnold), of Halifax, VA; one son, Troy Harris (Gwen) of Saxe, VA; eleven grandchildren, Theodore Ferguson III (Charity) of Hurlock, MD, Anthony Ferguson (Shannon) of Utica, NY, Tracey DeVaughn (Sean-Everett) of South Hill, VA, Mark Ferguson of Nicholasville, KY, Brandon Ferguson of Keysville, VA, Taylor Harris, of Saxe, VA, Kelsey Harris of Farmville, VA, Dylan Harris of Saxe, VA, and Sydney, Nora, and Alexis Gayles all of Halifax, VA; seven great-grandchildren; four siblings, Mildred Eubanks of Keysville, VA, May Bell Holcomb (William) of Chase City, VA, Larry Watson of Fort Mitchell, VA and Dandy “Daniel” Watson (Louise) of Chase City, VA; two brothers-in-law, Chester Harris of Wilmington, DE and Edward Harris of New Castle, DE; a sister-in-law, Novella Saunders (Leon) of Saxe, VA, the Holy Name Church of Jesus church family, and a host of loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Bobby Ann Harris will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 19, 2019 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Bishop Osmond Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Chase City, VA. Public viewing will be on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 6:00 P. M. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 -7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
