Betty Moore Oliver

Ms. Betty Moore Oliver, 64, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill, VA. Ms. Oliver was born in Chase City, VA on April 30, 1953 to the late Willie and Ruth Lee Watts Moore. She received her education in the Mecklenburg County Public Schools, and was a member of Greater Union Baptist Church, Chase City, VA. Ms. Oliver was a former employee of Burlington Industries, and was presently employed by the Mecklenburg County Public Schools Transportation Department. In addition to her parents, Ms. Oliver was preceded in death by her husband, Freddie Pettus, Sr. and several siblings. Cherishing her memories are six children, Tammy Pettus-Oliver of Portsmouth, VA, Wanda Mosley (Earnest), Anthony Pettus, Sr. (Cassandra), Felicia Hayes, Ivory Oliver and Harold Barnette, Jr. all of Chase City, VA; two step-sons, David Pettus and Freddie Pettus, Jr. both of Richmond, VA; 17 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Barnette and Mildred Fuller both of Chase City, VA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Ms. Betty Moore Oliver will be conducted 4:00 P.M. Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Marvin Harris officiating. Interment will be private. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City.
