Mrs. Betty Gugurtha Burwell Taylor, 91, of Chase City, VA entered eternally rest Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Halifax Regional Hospital, South Boston, VA. Mrs. Taylor was a faithful member of Concord Baptist Church.  She served as a Deaconess, faithful Sunday School Teacher, member of the Senior Choir (alto section), member of the Prayer Band, and the missionary ministry.  Visiting the nursing homes was one of the highlights of her mission ministry, especially during the holidays when she would bring holiday cheers to the residence, by singing, Bible teaching and sharing the gifts blessed by GOD. Mrs. Taylor is survived by five daughters, Laura T. Tucker, Gracie T. Davis (Reginald) and Joyce T. Blackwell all of Chase City, Rachel T. Satterfield of Richmond, Pearl E. Taylor, of Chesterfield; one son, George "Bud" Taylor (Renell) Chase City; 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, one sister, Estelle Holst (Milton) of Yonkers, NY; daughter-in-law, Virginia Taylor, of Falls Church; sister-in-law, Annie Taylor, of Emporia;  a faithful cousin, Betty Foster, and several devoted friends, including Thelma Oliver, Thelma Carter, Claudette Hutchinson, and William Wood  and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Gugurtha Burwell Taylor  will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Concord Baptist Church,  Chase City, VA with  Rev. Raleigh Bagley, III officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
