Bessie Watson Davis

Mrs. Bessie Watson Davis, 91, of Burkeville, VA entered eternal rest Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Hickory Hill Adult Home, Burkeville, VA. Mrs. Davis was born in Lunenburg County, VA November 14, 1918 to the late Matthew and Fannie Roberts Watson. She attended the schools of Lunenburg County, VA, was a member of Mount Mitchell Baptist Church, Drakes Branch, VA and was a homemaker. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Walter B. Davis. Cherishing her memories are one son, Trussell Knott, Sr. of South Hill, VA; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Davis of Drakes Branch, VA and Viola Hayes of Washington, DC.; one brother, Robert Watson of Chase City, VA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Davis will be conducted 3:00 P.M. Sunday, September 26, 2010 at Mount Mitchell Baptist Church, Drakes Branch, VA with Rev. Fran S. Jackson, officiating and her grandson, Rev. Ronnie Knott delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Watson Family Cemetery, Drakes Branch, VA. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. at the church. There will be no viewing on Saturday. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1304 North Main St. Chase City, VA.
