Mrs. Bessie Henry Watkins, 85, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at VCU Medical Center, Richmond, VA. Mrs. Watkins was born in Halifax County, VA March 11, 1935 to the late Addie and Allie Ferrell Henry. She received her education in the Clays Mill School, and was a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church, Clover, VA. Mrs. Watkins attended Berean Baptist Church in Chase City, and was a former cloth inspector at Burlington Industries in Clarksville, VA. She enjoyed cooking, wrestling, Dancing with the Stars, Wheel of Fortune, and being a caregiver. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Watkins was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Watkins; a son, Eddie James Watkins, and her sister, Ruby Henry Jones. She leaves to cherish her loving memory five sons, Alexander Watkins, Jr., Al Watkins and Doyle Watkins all of Chase City, VA, Milton Watkins (Loretta) of Boydton, VA and Robert Simmons of Oxford, NC; daughter, Dominique Simmons Gregory (Kenny) of Clarksville, VA; 21 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Graveside services for Mrs. Bessie Henry Watkins will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Sunday, November 29, 2020 at Berean Baptist Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA with Rev. Linda Goode officiating. Public viewing will be held on Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a mask will be required for all viewings and services. We ask that you adhere to all guidelines, and practice social distancing. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
