Bertha Robinson Townes

Mrs. Bertha Robinson Townes, 89, of La Crosse, VA entered eternal rest on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at her residence.

Mrs. Townes was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on December 28, 1934 to the late Johnny and Geneva Fields Robinson. She was a graduate of West End High School in Skipwith, and attended Exalted Word Church International in La Crosse, VA. Mrs. Townes was a homemaker who enjoyed reading, cooking and traveling.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Townes was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent H. Townes; two sons, Vincent L. Townes and Leon D. Townes; and two brothers, Elijah Robinson and Norman Robinson.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory four sons, Jeffrey M. Townes (Dorothy) of Buffalo Junction, VA, Alvin L. Townes (Gayle) and Richard Townes (Jeanine) both of South Hill, VA, and Larry D. Townes (Jannie) of Boydton, VA; one daughter, Trentace Hutcherson of Charlotte, NC; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Townes of Irvington, NJ, two brothers-in-law, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Robinson Townes will be conducted 1:00 P.M Saturday, February 10, 2023 at the chapel of C. H. Harris Funeral Home, Buffalo Junction, VA with Rev. Carl Walker officiating. Burial will follow in New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Clarksville, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
