Barbara Gene Allen Harrison

Mrs. Barbara Gene Allen Harrison, 74, of Virginia Beach, VA and formerly of Skipwith entered eternal rest Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Clarksville Health and Rehab, Clarksville, VA. Mrs. Harrison was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on July 29, 1947 to the late Cleveland and Lila Allen. At an early age, she joined Saint Luke Baptist Church in Skipwith. She was a graduate of West End High School, Class of 1965. Mrs. Harrison continued her education at Norfolk State College and pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration & Accounting and later earning a Master’s degree from Michigan State University. After making her home in Norfolk, she became a faithful, loving, caring and dutiful member of New Light Full Gospel Baptist Church where she enjoyed working in God’s vineyard. Mrs. Harrison served in myriad capacities of the church: Church Financial Secretary, Leader of Financial Intercessory Pray Ministry, served on the Church School Board of Directors, and taught Evangelism Explosion Classes. She was truly an institution and was fully involved in the service of the Lord. She was a Golden AKA Member of the Virginia Beach Chapter—Lambda Gamma Omega Sorority. She was well known through her good nature and willingness to help others. Mrs. Harrison was employed as a Relationship Banker in Norfolk. She was formerly employed by the government at Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a Logistic Management Specialist until she retired and was later employed by Colonna’s Shipyard as a Logistic Engineer; she also worked as a Realtor for Long and Foster. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary; her brother, James, and her husband, Edward “Bebo” Harrison. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her loving and devoted brother, Elder Charles D. Allen and his wife, Doris, Clarksville, VA; a special devoted great- niece, Aisha Allen (T’Nyiah),Virginia Beach, VA; three loving & caring nieces, Andrea Bell, Virginia Beach, VA, Min. Charlotte Allen, Boydton, VA and Lashawn York, Fayetteville, NC; one nephew, O.J. Allen, Fla.; great nieces, Taylor Banks (Taylin) NC; Porscha Williams (Arlis & sons); 3 great-nephews, Jonathan, Fla., Treyvon, Williamsburg, VA; Shemieke, VA Beach, VA; sister-in-law, Wanda McPherson (James),VA Beach, VA; brother-in-law, Reginald Harrison (Sandra), Portsmouth, VA, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara Gene Allen Harrison will be conducted 12:00 Noon, Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at New Light Full Gospel Baptist Church, 5549 Indian River Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23464 with Elder Charles D. Allen delivering the eulogy. Entombment will follow in Woodland Memorial Gardens, 6309 E Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA 23502. Public viewing will be held on Monday at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church from 11:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. Arrangements are by C. H.
