Barbara Elizabeth G. Marable

Mrs. Barbara Elizabeth Green-Marable, 96, of Baltimore, MD entered eternal rest on Tuesday, July 18, 2017. Mrs. Marable was born in Mount Vernon, NY on May 1, 1921 to the late John C. and Jennie Williams Green. She received her education in the New York Public School System and was a graduate of A. B. Davis High School, Mount Vernon, NY. Mrs. Marable was a member of Centennial African Methodist Episcopal Church, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and was a member of the Usher Board. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Marable was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Thompson Marable and eight siblings. Cherishing her memories are eight children: Jacqueline, Jack, Jr., Evelyn, Barbara, Jennie, Willa, Sharon and Brenda; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law: Willa Marable; five sons-in-law: Melvin Vines, Calvin Wilkins, Wayne, Richard Harris and Charles Washington; one sister-in-law: Eloise M. Callahan of Victoria, VA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. A funeral service for Mrs. Barbara Elizabeth Green-Marable will be conducted 1:30 P.M., Friday, July 28, 2017 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Fran S. Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Mitchell Baptist Church Cemetery, Drakes Branch, VA. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to service time. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service Chase City, VA.
