Barbara Ann Terry

Mrs. Barbara Ann Terry of Greensboro, NC and formerly of Clarksville, VA entered eternal rest on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC at the age of 76.

Mrs. Terry was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on November 27, 1947 to the late Julia Ann Terry- Hargrove Taylor and Frank Terry. She was baptized at an early age and joined Island Hill United Church of Christ, Clarksville, VA. Mrs. Terry attended the public schools of Mecklenburg County, VA and graduated from West End High School in Skipwith, Class of 1967. Post graduation, she relocated to Brooklyn, NY until marriage to Marion M. Terry, Jr. on June 22, 1968. She spent her younger life as a military wife and traveled for many years throughout the United States of America and Europe (Germany) while supporting her husband’s career and being a stay-at-home mother to her three sons. Following her husband’s retirement from the US Air Force, they later settled in Greensboro, NC.

Barbara enjoyed cooking, tending to her many house plants and enjoying her large Yankee Candles collection. She found great pleasure in spending time with her family, telling old stories, making jokes, laughing and taking pictures.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Lunoah “Bo” Terry (Shirley), Nathaniel “Skinner” Terry, Larry Hargrove and Marion “Jack” Terry (Dorothy).

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her devoted husband of 55 years, Marion M. Terry, Jr. of Greensboro, NC; three sons, Darrell Allen Terry of Concord, NC, Tyson Lamont Terry, Sr. of Roanoke Rapids, NC and Marion Sherard Terry of Greensboro, NC; fifteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; six sisters, Juanita Gregory (Steve) of Rougemont, NC, Glenda Burwell (Chester) of Henrico, VA, Evelyn Hargrove of Henderson, NC, Joyce Jackson of Walkertown, NC, Elizabeth Burwell (Albert) and Sharon Caddle (Larry) both of Clarksville, VA; three brothers, George Hargrove, Jr. (Joyce) of Brooklyn, NY, Vernon Hargrove of Clayton, NC and Shirley (Buck) Hargrove (Ana) of Ft. Mitchell, AL; two brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law; one aunt, Mary Williams of Walkertown, NC, one goddaughter, Barbrina Mayo of Creedmoor, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, and a vast number of loving relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Barbara Ann Terry was held on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at Callands Funeral Home, Greensboro, NC.
