Annie Gregory Smith

Mrs. Annie Gregory Smith, 90, of Clarksville, VA entered eternal rest on Friday, December 28, 2018 at her residence. Mrs. Smith was born August 4, 1928, in South Boston, Virginia, to the late Edward and Gracie Gregory. She received her education in Mecklenburg County Public Schools, and at an early age joined Rocky Mount Baptist Church. She was employed as a housekeeper and later at Russell Stover Candies. She was married to the late Reverend Clarence E. Smith and to this union two children were born. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Chester Price; son, Clarence J. Smith; two brothers, Robert Lee Gregory and Edward June Gregory; two sisters, Lilly Bell Wright and Ardell Small. Cherishing her memories are one son, Larry O. Smith, Sr. (Mary) of Clarksville, Virginia; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Estelle Richards of Boydton, Virginia, Rosa Henry of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Lois Brown of Piscataway, New Jersey; daughter-in-law, Evangeline Smith of Woodbridge, Virginia; three sisters-in-law, Wilhelmina Gregory of East Orange, New Jersey and Carrie Gregory of Chase City, Virginia and Helen Sims of New Jersey; a special family friend, Nannie Haskins, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Rocky Mount Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA with Rev. Patricia Liggon delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery, Clarksville, VA. Public viewing for family and friends will be on Friday from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM. Arrangements are by C.H.
