Andrew Leroy Rogers Sr.

Andrew Leroy Rogers “Punk”, 57, of Skipwith, VA entered eternal rest Thursday, October 26, 2006 at his residence. Mr. Rogers was born June 10, 1949 in Henderson, N.C. to the late Lodema (Smith) and Thomas Rogers. Andrew attended Mecklenburg County Schools and later served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the St. Luke Baptist Church of Skipwith, VA. where he served in the Male Choir and regularly attended Sunday school. Andrew was employed by the Municipality of Teaneck, New Jersey until the early 1980’s. Andrew was predeceased by his parent and three siblings Eleanor Rogers, Ethel (Rogers) Dillard and William Thomas Rogers. Cherishing his memories is his eternal companion Clara (Boyd) Rogers of New Jersey: three sons, Daryl and Andrew Leroy Jr. of New Jersey; Damon Lamont Rogers of Maryland: one grandson, Daryl Jr. of New Jersey: two sisters, Susan Clarke and Linda Rogers of New Jersey: two brothers, Sandy Townes of Skipwith, VA and Charles Townes of Clarksville, VA: two uncles, Calvin Smith of Pennsylvania and Louie Smith of Chase City, VA: three aunts, Luetta Thomas of Chase City, Ida Mae Crawford of New York and Lula Alberta Smith of Chase City: Godfather, Clinton Webster: and Best Friend Charles Webster: and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Funeral services for Mr. Andrew L. Rogers Sr. “Punk” will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 2, 2006 at St. Luke Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA with Elder William McNeill, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 7 P.M. at Giles-Harris Funeral Home.  Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1304 North Main street, Chase City, VA
