Andrew Jr. Salley

Mr. Andrew Salley Jr., 70, of New York, NY and formerly of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Wednesday, April 6, 2016 in New York. Mr. Salley was born in Skipwith, VA January 1, 1946 to the late Andrew Sr. and Corene Carter Salley. He was a graduate of West End High School, Clarksville, VA, and later attended Virginia Union University before being drafted into the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Salley was employed by the Westchester County Government Department of Health as a Senior Control Clerk and also worked in the finance Dept. at Saint Luke Hospital as an accountant. On September 9, 2002 he joined the New York Police Dept. working as a Senior Police Administrative Aide. He was a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA In addition to his parents Mr. Salley was preceded in death by one brother, William (Bill) Salley and two sisters, Bertha Jones and Ollie Jean Toombs. Cherishing his memories are two sisters, Louise Toombs of Durham, NC and Clara Clark (Sonny) of Fredericksburg, VA; one brother, Curtis Salley (Jennie) of Palm Coast, FL; one brother-in-law, Albert Toombs (Estelle) of Chase City, VA; three aunts, Mary Liza Salley and Geneva Carter-Wilson both of Chase City, VA and Mae Fanny Coles of Painters, VA; two uncles, Rev. Willie L. Carter, Sr. (Lucy) of Chase City, VA and Richard Carter of Roanoke, VA; two special nephews, Albert Douglas Toombs of Midlothian , VA and Michael Salley of Putnam Valley, NY and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Rocky Mount Baptist Church, Skipwith, VA with Rev. Willie L. Carter, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Thyne Memorial Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of the service. Public viewing for family and friends will be Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.  Services 2:00 P.M.
