Alfred Leon Ward, Sr.

Mr. Alfred Leon Ward, Sr., 65, of Wylliesburg, VA entered eternal rest Friday, September 15, 2017 at Berry Hill Nursing Home, South Boston, VA. Mr. Ward was born in Chase City, VA March 16, 1952, he attended Charlotte County Public Schools. At an early age he joined First Baptist Church, Wylliesburg, VA. Mr. Ward worked on the farm all of his life and enjoyed listening to music. Mr. Ward was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Lauretta Dean Ward. Cherishing his memories are five children, Alfred Leon Ward, Jr. and Angela D. Davis (Lamont) of Saxe, VA, Steven A. Ward (Cynthia) of Clarksville, VA, Christopher D. Ward (Orlanda) of Nathalie, VA and Kristina Ward of Greensboro, NC; nine grandchildren, five great- grandchildren; his mother, Lucille P. Roberts of Wylliesburg, VA; one sister, Phyllis Ward of South Boston, VA; one brother, James Ward, Sr. of Saxe, VA ; one sister-in-law, Yvonne Roots, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Alfred Leon Ward, Sr. will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Bishop David Chalmers, officiating. Burial will follow in First Baptist Church Cemetery, Drakes Branch, VA. Public viewing for family and friends, Wednesday 10:00 AM until 7:00 PM. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
