Mr. Thomas Edward Scott, Sr., 63, of Drakes Branch, VA entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at VCU/MCV Medical Center, Richmond, VA . Mr. Scott was born August 10, 1949 in Charlotte County, Virginia to Willie Nelson and Lillie Tucker Scott. He graduated from Central High School in 1968 and was a veteran of U.S. Army. He served in the Vietnam War, earning many commendations. He retired from Virginia Dept. of Corrections after 33 years of service. He was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Church treasurer, Superintendent, and Sunday School teacher . Cherishing his memories are his devoted wife of 39 years, Havannah Scott of Drakes Branch, VA; one son, Thomas Scott Jr. of Baltimore, MD; three daughters, Kathleen Scott of Yorktown, VA, Tamara Scott of Drakes Branch, VA and Nikita Liggon (Douglas) of Chesterfield, VA; three granddaughters, Maya Anderson, Taylor Liggon, and Katlyn Liggon; his mother, Lillie Scott of Saxe, VA; six brothers, Harold Scott Sr. (Ella), Charles Scott Sr.(Estelle), Willie F. Scott Sr.(Gloria),Michael Scott Sr.(Sherry), Stanley Scott Sr.(Peggy) and Marshall Scott Sr.(Teresa), all of Saxe, VA; two sisters, Alma Scott (Filmore) of Appomattox, VA and Paulette Scott of Richmond, VA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Thomas E. Scott, Sr. will be conducted 1:00 Friday March 8, 2013 at Piney Grove Baptist Church, Saxe, VA with Rev. Dr. Whitfield Scott delivering the eulogy. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends will be on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until 7 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA. Service       1:00 P.M.  Friday, March 8, 2013 Piney Grove Baptist Church, Saxe, Va Viewing    Thurdsay 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M.
