Shirley Mae Overby

Mrs. Shirley Mae Baskerville Overby, 80, of Boydton, VA departed this earthly life on Friday, March 15, 2019 at VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital in South Hill, VA. Mrs. Overby was born in Newark, NJ on May 23, 1938 to the late Alphonso Baskerville, Sr. and Alice Morton Baskerville. She attended Weequahic High School in Newark, NJ, and was employed by Sun America Insurance Companies until her retirement in 1998. She later relocated to Boydton, VA where she joined Lands Chapel RZUA Church. While there she served as Treasurer, Secretary, and an Usher. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Overby was preceded in death by her son, Curtis Overby, and one brother, Alphonso Baskerville, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Charles S. Overby, Sr. of Boydton, VA; two sons, Charles S. Overby, Jr. (Delphine) of Bloomfield, NJ and Clifford Overby of Newark, NJ; two daughters, Cheryl Overby-King of Boydton, VA and Celeste Overby of Elizabeth, NJ; four grandsons; two aunts, Mary Alexander of Easton, PA and Mary Jane Simmons of Chase City, VA, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Mae Baskerville Overby will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Lands Chapel RZUA Church, Boydton, VA with Rev. Lovely Moore delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will begin on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at the church. Arrangements are by C. H. Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Clarksville, VA.
