Mr. Melvin R. Clemons, Sr., 77, of Boydton, VA entered eternal rest on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at his residence. Mr. Clemons, affectionately known as “Slim”, was born in Franklin County, NC April 14, 1943 to the late John Henry and Gladys Clemons. He received his early education in the Franklin County Public Schools, and upon relocating to Washington, DC he attended Cardozo High School. He was a 20-year employee of Worthington Pumps, and later gained employment with NJ Transit Rail operations. In addition to his parents, Mr. Clemons was preceded in death by his siblings, Helen, Charles Edward and Henry, Jr. He leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife of 37 years, Lessie Alexander Clemons of Boydton, VA; three sons, Charles (Barbara) of Massachusetts, Troy of Georgia and Melvin (Tanique) of Virginia; daughter, Angela of Virginia; ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, two sisters, Christine and Ethel both of Washington, DC; two sisters-in-law, Pastor Rolinda Gilliam (Bishop Karo) and Teresa Goode both of Virginia; four aunts, Reolia, Ruby, Annie Pearl and Juanita; uncle, Calvin devoted cousins, John Earl and Deloris Williams, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral services for Mr. Melvin R. Clemons, Sr. will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Awesome Faith Ministries, South Hill, VA with Pastor Rolinda Gilliam officiating. Interment will be private. Public viewing will be held on Friday from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00P.M. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a mask will be required for all viewings and services. We ask that you adhere to all guidelines, and practice social distancing. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
