Mary Thelma Oliver

Mrs. Mary Thelma Oliver, 96, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Monday, January 9, 2017 at her residence in Chase City, VA. Mrs. Oliver was born in Mecklenburg County, VA June 15, 1920 to the late George Irvin and Susie Smith Burton. She attended the schools of Mecklenburg County, VA. Mrs. Oliver was the oldest member of Lone Oak Baptist Church and had previously served on the Usher Board. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burton was preceded in death by her husband, Llewelyn Alfred Oliver; two sisters, Laura Pamplin and Mamie Burton and four brothers, Irvin, Russell, Lorenzo and Alvin Burton. Cherishing her memories are one sister, Teressa B. Coleman of Chase City, VA; one brother, Hilton Burton of Chase City, VA; nieces, Marilyn Jones and Hillary Spinks both of Texas, Rosa Smith, Fannie White, Corene Hayes and Irene Simmons (Clyde) all of Chase City, VA ; nephews, Junious I. Hayes of Fayetteville, NC, Matthew T. Hayes of Richmond, VA, Donald K. Hayes of Chase City, VA and Ronald Hayes of Hephzibah, GA and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Thelma Oliver will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the chapel of Giles-Harris Funeral Home, Chase City, VA with Rev. Dr. Freddie L. Terry, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in Lone Oak Baptist Church Cemetery, Chase City, VA. Public viewing will be held on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
