Hazel Jean Brunson

Mrs. Hazel Jean Cobb Brunson, 73, of Chase City entered eternal rest on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Centra Southside Community Hospital, Farmville. Mrs. Brunson was born in Richmond, VA October 2, 1944 to the late John Henry and Mary Agnes McCargo Cobb. She attended the schools of Charlotte County and was a member of Rocky Branch Baptist Church, Red Oak. Mrs. Brunson was a homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Brunson, Sr.; great-granddaughter, Imani McCray, and two brothers, John and Edward Cobb. Cherishing her memories are her son, Joseph Brunson, Jr. of Chase City, VA; three daughters, Barbara B. Gilbert (Darren) of Newark, NJ, Edna Brunson of West Point, VA and Prena B. Santiago (Wilfredo) of Chase City, VA; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren ; two brothers, Robert Cobb of Newark, NJ and Leroy Cobb of Drakes Branch, VA; two sisters, Ruth C. Dailey (Norris) of Red Oak, VA and Rose Cobb (Douglas) of Greenwood, FL, and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friend. Funeral services for Mrs. Hazel J. Brunson will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Rocky Branch Baptist Church, Red Oak, VA with Rev. Dr. James E. Scott, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
