Franklin Lee Salley

Mr. Franklin Lee Salley, 70, of Chase City, VA entered eternal rest Monday, February 8, 2021 at VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill, VA. Mr. Salley was born in Mecklenburg County, VA May 20, 1950 to the late John F. House and Mildred L. Salley. He received his early education in the East Orange, New Jersey school system. He joined the Job Corp and received his certification in Mechanics. Mr. Salley received a degree in Master Automotive Technician from NRD Automotive Servicing School in Washington, DC in July of 1978. While living in Richmond, VA Mr. Salley worked for the Colby Restaurant Equipment as a shipping clerk. Upon relocating back to Mecklenburg County, Franklin joined the Williams Grove Baptist Church in Chase City, VA. In Franklin's spare time he enjoyed playing cards and working on automobiles. He was an avid sports fan, he especially loved baseball. He found great pleasure in spending time with his family and friends. Those left to cherish his precious memories are two uncles, Thurman Salley (Irene) of Chase City, VA and John Salley (Laura) of Yonkers, NY; an aunt ,Martha Salley of Philadelphia, PA; devoted cousins, Clarence King (Candy), Michael “Butch” Salley (Beverly) and Joyce Ann Barnette, special friends, Frank Watson and family, Mary Jane Simmons and Diane Wood and a vast number of other loving relatives and caring friends. A graveside funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Williams Grove Baptist Church, Chase City, VA with Rev. Andy Hargrove, officiating. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a mask will be required for all viewings and services. We ask that you adhere to all guidelines, and practice social distancing. Arrangements are by Giles-Harris Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Chase City, VA.
